Game 2 saw Pitcher of the Week Brendan Talonen go 6 innings with 12 K's while only giving up 2 hits. Nolan Craddock looked sharp striking out the side in the last inning. The Baby 'Stros showed their youth and their talent. Gavin Talonen got hitter of the week with a home run over the green monster in Center, a double and on base 5 times but..... struck out twice, including with the bases loaded in the 8th inning of the game 1. He made 2 great plays at 3rd but.... then was late covering the bag on a steal that led to 3 runs. Sean Pauly had 3 hits and was on base 5 times also including his first home run but..... as the tying run tried to steal second on his own and got thrown out by 3 steps that Gavin then hit the home run. Yes.... That would have put us ahead going into the last inning. Then as the potential walk off game winning run, he failed to score from second on a single to center in the bottom of the 9th.
Harvey Smerdon made his Astros debut with 3 hits with a walk and a couple RBI's but... had 4 errors in the field that Sierra then scored all 9 of their runs in those innings.

Eric Nachtsheim started game 1 with 4 innings and 5 K's and should have got the win and Paul Ferrari should have got the save but ended up with the loss. Brendan Talonen only gave up two hits and struck out five in four innings and should have got the win in game 2. Nolan Craddock got pitcher of the week only throwing eight pitches in the 5th inning and handed the lead to the closer Josh Czyz, who then imploded for 9 runs in 2 innings to seal the Astros fate.
Matt's first missed games in 31 seasons... Outside of Josh, the Astros only gave up two earned runs all day and came away with two losses. Youth and inexperience is no excuse. That is unacceptable.
